Why do babies need chiropractic care?

For many parents, finding out they are having their own bundle of joy, whether through their own efforts or through adoption, is one of the happiest days of their life. As the excitement (or shock) starts to set in so do the millions of questions: how do I take care of such a little thing? Breastmilk or formula? Cloth diapers or disposables? Will he/she play basketball or soccer? Will they become a teacher or an artist? What will he/she look like? Wait, is it a he or a she?

In the mix of all these questions, comes the worries about keeping your little one safe and healthy. You want to help them be their best self and accomplish all their dreams. You start putting plans in place to make these goals happen, but there may be one key aspect you haven’t thought to consider: chiropractic care. Now you may be thinking, “chiropractic is for people with headaches and back pain. Babies don’t have any of that.” This is where I would like to challenge your thinking. Chiropractic care actually does not treat symptoms but frees the nervous system from interference so the brain and body can communicate optimally. It focuses on facilitating adaptation and healing within the body so it can handle all the stress we tend to throw its way. Again, you may be thinking, “babies don’t have stress”. And, again, I would like you to consider all a baby is trying to learn during each minute of every day. Babies are learning to eat, learning to walk, learning who their parents are, how to hold up their head, what foods they like, how to coo, how to fall asleep, how to laugh, when to nap, when they’re hungry, how to let you know they’re hungry. All of this information is being processed within milliseconds through their entire day (no wonder they need so many naps!). Their little brains are constantly learning and developing into the children and adults they will one day become. I would say that could be a little stressful.

Now what if these messages were not able to be processed as quickly or as effectively? Is there a chance that the baby would turn into a wonderful and wildly successful adult? Absolutely. But, as a parent, you want to give them all the tools possible to make that road easy for them which may very well start with chiropractic care. Chiropractic care allows your baby to develop with a nervous system that is at ease. Instead of fighting through roadblocks that may be caused by a misalignment in their spine, their brain and body can build strong connections that will follow them throughout their life on their way to success. Chiropractic allows them to make strong connections to their muscles, helps prevent colic or earaches, helps with retention and learning and so much more, not because of the adjustment performed by the chiropractor, but by the baby’s body accepting and reacting to the freedom produced in his/her nervous system. Just like our adult bodies, babies’ and children’s bodies want to thrive and function without limitations which is why such amazing things can be witnessed in babies and children under chiropractic care. Their bodies are already taking in so much on a daily basis so when a force comes along to give a little assistance and make their development easier, their bodies accept it willingly and gratefully. It is not only for their continuous development, but the hope for their healthy, happy, and successful future that babies should be under regular chiropractic care.
